Here is my review of certainly one of the most versatile travel tripod currently available on the market.
You're searching for a carbon triod. You want to travel light. Well with less than 3lbs this K&F Concept SA255C1 might become your goto kit.
I already reviewed the aluminium alloy version of this tripod and in spite of the fact that they're sharing the same metalic ball head, the difference in weight is obvious when handling and carrying them. The main 2 reasons for this being:
- a monopod of only 0,5 lbs
- The weight of the central column of the carbon version is half the one of the aluminium alloy one, with only 0,36 lbs
Fully folded, the tripod length is 16,5 inches and is able to fully extend up to 74 inches.
That's an impressive range for such type of tripod being possible thanks to a double extent of the central column.
Considering those features, it is clearly one of the best option in term of versatility and weight.
Surprisingly, KF Concept had been thinking out of the box with this product and gone beyond the usual photographers crowd.
By providing a plate for mobile phones, This KF Concept travel tripod is also convinient for mobile phone vloggers. That's a really neat touch.
Concerning the ball head now, I didn't try the claimed up to 22 lbs maximum supported gear load, but it performed well with my own setup:
- DSLR + battery grip with 2 batteries at around 2,2 lbs
- Telephoto lens 70-400 of 3,3 lbs
All in all this tripod is now my new goto as travel tripod setup.
A light and neat solution at a no-brainer MSRP, around 130 USD.
